Gasparilla History Cruise

Set sail aboard the Lost Pearl for a 1.5 hour Gasparilla history cruise. The cruise will feature Tampa Bay History Center’s Curator Rodney Kite-Powell who will share the history of Gasparilla. The Gasparilla pirate festival is a beloved Tampa tradition dating back to 1904.

About Rodney: Rodney Kite-Powell is Director of the Touchton Map Library and the Saunders Foundation Curator of History at the Tampa Bay History Center, where he joined the staff in 1994. He received a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Florida and a Master of Arts in History from the University of South Florida. Born and raised in Tampa, he has written extensively on the history of Tampa and Hillsborough County and is the editor of Tampa Bay History, a regional history journal.

Cruise Times:

  • Boarding: 6:15 p.m., Cruise: 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.


  • Adult: $29.95 plus $2 marine fee and tax
  • Child: $24.95 plus $2 marine fee and tax

Parking: Your cruise tickets DO NOT INCLUDE PARKING. Parking is available for a charge in downtown Tampa.  We recommend parking in the Tampa Convention Center Garage, Pam Iorio Parking Garage or Fort Brooke Garage just to name a few. Guests should allot extra time for parking and traffic.
